Eberhard Clamor Freiherr v. dem Bussche
Eberhard has a broad and international experience in corporate & structured finance as well as in financial strategy. He has executed large scale transactions as Managing Director of Citigroup’s European Corporate & Structured Finance platform and also private transactions as Managing Director with Sal. Oppenheim in the DACH region. Additionally, Eberhard successfully established new and restructured existing business divisions for a state owned bank in preparation of its privatisation. Before becoming a banker, Eberhard worked as head of a privatisation and transformation team at a consultancy firm indirectly owned by the German Ministry of Finance, and advised on and executed numerous transactions in countries with previously centrally organised economies and state owned companies. This also included assistance on enterprise formation and advice on the legal framework. Prior to this, Eberhard as International Partner for an accounting firm set up and managed tax and accountancy offices mainly in CES as well as in China. He studied economics and law at the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuernberg. He is chairman of a church trust as well as a family trust, and sits on advisory boards of start-up companies as well as a number of established middle market businesses.
Julian has over 25 years experience of developing regional sales and marketing groups based in Hong Kong, Singapore and London. He has worked for media companies, Newsweek International, Harvard Business Review and the Middle East Economic Digest, and most recently corporate recovery firm CI. He has developed sales and marketing networks regionally across Asia and Africa, the Middle East, Europe and the US. Since 1997 he has sourced and developed legal claims and cases to bring to the attention of appropriate litigation funders and found investors interested to invest in this emerging asset class. Julian served in the Welsh Guards.
David Burton – Senior Advisor
David Burton has extensive management, corporate finance and business development expertise, particularly with smaller UK based companies operating across a wide range of sectors, where he has provided strategy, consulting, financial and business advice. He has had extensive international experience, particularly in offshore financial centres, the USA and Southern Africa. David is a former senior partner of Deloitte & Touche who left the firm in 1993 to pursue and develop a wider portfolio of interests. He is currently chairman of three of AON’s UK pension schemes; a non-executive director of Sigma Q C Ltd; a non-executive director of Hirco PLC; chairman of Globaltech Solutions Ltd; and a non-executive director of Central & Overseas Securities Limited, part of Tongaat-Hulett Ltd, a South African and UK listed company.
Bill Semmes – Senior Advisor
Bill Semmes has extensive international long only, hedge and private equity fund marketing experience. He graduated from Columbia University and joined American Express in 1970 holding marketing and sales positions including three years as head of Sales & Marketing in Europe, Middle East & Africa, based in London. From 1981-6 he was head of Marketing & Sales for Chemical Bank’s Trust & Investment Division and President of MasterCard International’s Travelers Cheque Division. In 1986 he was recruited back to American Express as SVP, head of Sales and Marketing for mutual funds and separate accounts. In 1995 he joined Chase Vista Funds to establish their offshore fund programme with retail funds domiciled in Luxembourg and institutional in Dublin and raised $2 billion in assets in two years. In 2000 he established European American Funds Associates Limited and began European placement programmes for international, mainly US, private equity funds.
Cyrena Rice – Senior Advisor
Cyrena has over a dozen years’ experience in sales/marketing of alternative investment product into the UK and Europe with an expertise in credit/fixed income. She joins from LNG Capital, a London based long/short credit manager focused on European High Yield, where she was in charge of business development and marketing to institutional clients. She has held senior international positions in relationship management and sales of structured products and derivatives at Banquo Credit Management, ABN AMRO, having started her career at UBS where she joined the graduate training programme. At Lancea her focus is on third party distribution of alternative investments, including hedge funds, long only and illiquid funds (private debt, private equity & real assets). Cyrena holds a BA Degree (Hons) in English Literature from the University of Bristol.
Sanjay Puri – Finance and Operations
Sanjay has over 15 years experience working in a variety of roles within the financial services industry. He qualified as a chartered accountant with KPMG, working predominantly in its corporate recovery team, before moving to the Bank of Scotland and thereafter Fidelity as a financial analyst within the asset management businesses. Sanjay then moved to BNP Paribas specialising in corporate funding, equities and equity derivatives analysis. Since 2009 he has been acted as Head of Finance for a number of SME’s where he has been responsible for all aspects of finance, operations, planning and analysis. He has considerable experience in leading, developing and implementing change across finance, operations and business. Sanjay graduated in economics at Manchester University and obtained an MBA (Distinction) at Warwick Business School.
Claire Aikman – Operations
Claire has worked in or alongside investment banks for over 25 years fulfilling a variety of administrative, support, training and back office roles both as an employee and in a self-employed capacity. In 2010, she co-founded The Invisible Assistant www.theinvisibleassistant.co.uk working with businesses across all sectors. She is also a director of Second Mile Limited, a firm of start-up entrepreneurs.
